How to Use the Modules

The Funding Navigation Process Modules are freely available online for the public. You and your team can use the three modules on your own at and your own pace. These modules guide you through the five-step Funding Navigation Process. The modules prepare you to work with your community to design, fund, and sustain principled investments in your community.

Module 1: Key Principles for a Resilient and Equitable Recovery

This module introduces the four principles behind the Funding Navigation Process: align across sectors with an equity focus, coordinate strategies, leverage intermediaries, and build on community leadership. Module 1 also outlines the Funding Navigation Process and offers guidance for working with people and organizations in the community to create a vision for meeting a community-identified priority.

Module 2: Funding Landscape Analysis

This module guides users on their way to becoming money whisperers. It emphasizes building relationships and navigating across systems to identify potential funding sources. Module 2 also introduces users to a set of interactive dashboards that identify potential federal sources of funding in one of the recent COVID-19 recovery funding laws, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Module 3: Take Action

This module helps users define and pursue structured strategies for connecting their community-oriented collaboratives with money. This module emphasizes communication plans and an action plans. Module 3 also offers tools and resources for sustaining your collaborative’s innovations.
